When you guys read books or fanfics etc ... do you always see however the author described a character (if they provided an extensive description) and do you remember that? Or do you end up kind of imagining them on your own terms?

I'm remembering the whole thing with Rue in and how SO MANY PEOPLE completely forgot, or never read, that she was black in the book and got all racist when Amandla Stenberg was cast in the role ...

Are descriptions really necessary I wonder?

I'm blocking more and more people on Mastodon lately ....

It's happening quite quickly that the space is kind of becoming "twitter-like" for me ...

A of ‘s voice has been unsurfaced by the National Sound Library of from a 1955 Mexican show. The artist, who died in 1954, is assumed to be reading from her essay Portrait of Diego on El Bachiller. The tape was found in the archives of late radio star Alvaro “The Bachelor” Galvez y Fuentes.

Frida was rarely ever heard to speak as she often featured in silent films.

Publishing startup has announced that it will continue the story as one of its “serials” — an episodic novel with accompanying narration — with series star set to narrate.

Serial Box says that the series is set 8 years after the end of the show, and will feature the same characters.

“The story will take fans in some unexpected directions, and there are a lot of treats along the way that harken back to previous seasons.”

The bureau of social welfare and public health has a mascot for child abuse prevention ( has mascots for everything) and it's name is strangely (or purposely) "Osekkai" ... which is a noun meaning "an instance of obtrusive meddling, or needlessly interfering in other people’s business.”

.... my level of WTF is high on this one ...

"We've moved beyond the idea that women wearing pants is a problem. Women wearing pants is powerful, it's strong, everybody accepts it, and it's associated with the patriarchy, it's associated with being male. The minute a man puts on a dress it's disgusting, so what are you saying? Men are strong, women are disgusting? I'm not doing that anymore. I'm done with that. I'm a man in a dress and if I feel like wearing a dress I'm gonna wear one." - Billy Porter

I don't usually enjoy much .... the first one I enjoyed UTTERLY was and after that ....

The upcoming looks like the kind of artwork I enjoy and its who really can do no wrong. Despite the piece being featured prominently, it's actually about and is made in cooperation with the Rugby Football Union.

The plot seems typical (two people with clashing personalities etc) but I will give it a try when it airs.

I think crapulent sounds way better than crap ...

Anybody: Oh you look terrible ...
Me: I feel positively crapulent today ...

I didn't know "crapulence" was a real word until just now ...

I knew crap was slang but I didn't realize it was a real word.

There is an article on LIFEHACKER called "How to Write in Cursive" and it begins

"I type all day. I swipe and tap on my phone. I scribble notes to myself on paper. I’m happy with my mostly-digital life. But every now and then I’ll get a handwritten note—from an old lady, usually—and I find myself wishing I practiced more often. Those old ladies can write."

oh my god ... am I really so old that cursive is like ... something you write ARTICLES ABOUT HOW TO DO and reference OLD LADIES??

According to director , Age Of Resistance is a hugely ambitious undertaking in the medium of .

“We are throwing everything at this,” he tells Pilot TV. “Nobody’s fooled by CG any more. We know when something is CG. Puppets, we know someone had to [work them]… And we’re pushing puppeteering beyond anything anyone has done before.”

I get that "healthy", mutually beneficial, "normal" relationships just don't make good stories but I don't see how promoting dysfunction and destructive interpretations of relationships is a good trend for yuri or why it seems to be 90% of what gets translated into English or turned into anime ...

Been reading the before the comes out just to confirm something I didn't really need to confirm but I was curious ...

There seems to be this popular trend of girls being borderline, pathological, having APD, or sociopathic tendencies in yuri ... and is no different.

Both girls are damaged but Murakami shows many signs of sociopathy.

I really am unsure how this stuff translates to romance or why people like it but yeah ... she's not well ... AT ALL.

and revisit their neo-noir

STILL love Bound even after all this time and I haven't seen it in YEARS. I thought the movie had ALL the elements of being a classic noir film when NO ONE was making those anymore. I just loved it. Maybe it's because the are geniuses and had such a personal stake in it and how much deeper it went for them. It comes across so strongly. It's awesome these two love it so much still too.

has grown into one of the premiere movie distributors for great films, many of which are film from Japan like and several Studio films. Well, they have acquired their first animated film called , which is a fantasy epic based on ancient Chinese lore known as The Legend of the White Snake.

Why is there no "healthy yuri" ?

Why is nearly all yuri about utterly dysfunctional, mentally stunted and sometimes severely damaged girls?

Maybe I just haven't found any that have been translated to English? Or just do all think relationships of this type are just preset as fucked up?
