(And, really, what it’s *actually* about is buying out the Democratic Party on behalf of the Plutocratic Party. The GOP’s already on lockdown and the Dems have been reasonably solid in the Clinton and Obama eras, but all the revivalist socialist and anti-oligarchic rabble rousing is making the mega-rich nervous…)
@alis Yeah, we know. The DNC *loves* plutocracy, but fortunately they are also comically inept, so here's hoping their effort to make Bloomberg the new Centrist Darling fails.
I legit don't know whether or not I'd vote if it came down to Bloomberg v. Trump. The only real difference is that Bloomberg is less incompetent, which I'm not sure is a selling point when you're deciding which font of viscous evil to elect god-emperor.
@lindentreeisle My impression was that Buttigieg was more the "establishment" big ups candidate, while Bloomberg is kind of an outsider? I mean, he's rich and connected so he still gets kid gloves treatment, but I didn't really get the impression the DNC "wants" him per se?
Trump vs. Bloomberg would be, like...
@alis i think the establishment is probably worried Buttigieg’s sexuality will be a liability. Remember that the DNC Dems only really embraced gay marriage and the repeal of DADT after LGBTQ advocacy orgs had already managed to turn the tide of public opinion. They are hypersensitive about alienating the mythical centrist Republican and will worry that Buttigieg will turn them off bc gay sex is icky.
