LB: Here's a nuance I see missed about this topic. If you think in terms of people "being racist" rather than "enacting racism" it is easy to fall into thinking that people of color can't "be racist". But _anyone_ can further the work of any oppression.

It's not that people of color cannot enact racism… it's that white people cannot be the target of racism. There is a difference.

A queer person can enact homophobia. A Black person can enact anti-blackness. A woman can enact misogyny.

Weekends are for long languid, leisurely pots of tea. tragically Thursdays are for gulping down a big mug's worth while trying to remember where I put my lunchbox.

Like, Jesus Christ, we in the US have our own problems with religion and racism and people not minding their own business but that specifically euro attitude of "no one here is prejudiced! We accept all people (as long as they assimilate to our culture)!" is SO repellent to me. There's no self-awareness whatsoever.

US politics

Large scale political violence surrounding a contested election is not foriegn to US history. The Civil War began because the Southern slaveholding aristocracy refused to countenance an antislavery president, and seceded before he could be sworn in. The racist terrorist goons who stormed the capitol, are following in the legacy they so claim to be proud of, that of the Confederacy, which is to say a legacy of white supremacist treason in defiance of the vote.

US politics

I rarely feel any kind of common feeling with Mitt Romney, but I too would like to glare daggers at the back of Josh Hawley's head until it explodes from the force of my rage.

Lament of an AO3 fanfiction reader:

This chapter is a joy, a gem without peer.
Kudos for it, kudos, I say!
But "You have already left kudos here. :)"
So I must sigh and be on my way.

Really need people to understand that "changed beliefs after exposure to convincing argument" and "reaffirmed previous beliefs after exposure to opposing arguments that were kind of stupid, actually" can and do exist simultaneously.

Like... just because you know someone's justification for why they Think Like That doesn't mean you're going to automatically agree with it. You are not some kind of intellectual void only good for holding the last n liters of ideas someone else poured into you.

Spoiler Alert tho just because a non-Christian society's shittiness didn't 100% line up with Historically Christian shittiness did not mean it was "egalitarian" like holy hells people.

In regards to that one portrait of Robb Stark that keeps crossing my dash:

I am a simple woman. When I see a drawing of redhead guy in earlyish Tudor dress, I assume he's Henry VIII and I boo and hiss, like all good and right people do upon encountering such an image.

I just saw someone define a "Boomer" as anyone born between the 1920s and the 1990s and I never knew before what the Youngs meant when they say they "felt their soul leave their body" but I sure do now

Also I have chocolate orange ice cream all in my hair, because ice cream making is so messy! Worth it, but messy

Made chocolate orange ice cream. My grandmother raved, and was like, "this is amazing, did you come up with the recipe?" And it took a lot not to just go, yeah, I added orange flavoring oil to a basic chocolate ice cream recipe. Not really that special.

It's really good though, and my mom's family eats oranges and orange chocolates for Hanukkah, probably because their German gentile neighbors ate them for Christmas, so it's timely.

Petition to change it from "ex-husband" to "hasband"

Donald Trump has been voted out. May he slink off in the night like the coward he is. May he suffer his enforced retirement and the attention of prosecutors from various state and federal offices only briefly before he reaches the only certainty in life for a man who has managed to avoid paying his taxes. May his children and associates enjoy state hospitality for many years to come.
