So I'm trying to install Steam on my new Xubuntu install and sudo apt-get update keeps telling me I don't have contrib non-free enabled in sources.list, have I checked my spelling? (Yes. Yes, I have. Repeatedly.) Meanwhile, the Gnome gui tool doesn't actually allow you to set the contrib and non-free flags, but it sure can screw up sources.list if you click anything.

And now I am trying to remember why I wanted to go back to Linux...

Solution: Reinstall Xubuntu (since apt-get didn't like my sources.list backup either), be grateful I partitioned /home separately, hope Debian fixes whatever it busted eventually and try again in six months.
