one of the only "perks" about my job is that I have an office of my own. it's the size of a closet, but it has a window, and it's mine -- I don't have to share! (I was in an open-plan office with 11 other people in grad school, so this is huge.)
yesterday one of the grad students from my boss's group came in and asked if she could move in here. D:
I understood her reasoning -- she's trying to write her thesis and wants somewhere quiet, and since she's in one of the shared rooms, they're talking about putting the incoming grad students in there, ticking the total up to 14 people sharing an office. (It's a large space, but still.)
I told her yeah, okay, because you know, I get it, and I can suck it up and deal...
...and then she started going on about rearranging the entire space and ahhhhhhhhhh
@phyrry that's what I said! she thinks she can fit a desk in here that doesn't face the wall, tho. more power to her, I guess...?
If someone's doing you a favor like that, it's rude as hell to make them rearrange everything to suit you. But that's just my take.
