Have made significant progress in #BOTW - I made it off the plateau and all the way over to the mad scientist lady, and am currently working on some side quests. Can finally see why BOTW is on so many "chill out" game lists!
#BOTW update: Still noodling around with some side quests. Spent HOURS (in game) trying to murder goblins on the beach using bombs, and then the red moon thing happened at midnight & reset everything. ๐
anyway I got back in there and killed it and now I HAVE THE MOP ๐ก
Made it over to one of the memory fetch spots and a centaur (??) watched me climb a tree and then shot me out of it with an ice arrow #botw
Finally!! Beautiful shark prince!!! #botw
I am IN THE ELEPHANT about to do a boss battle. I've noticed that I get way more nervous about fights than I do in other Zelda games, partly because of the realistic art but also the camera position/POV.
Like, if it was a FPS-style camera I think I'd be okay, but watching Link get squished by a monster looming over him is just upsetting. #botw
have done a lot of things in #botw since my last update (Zora side quests, mainly) and am now trying to make my way into the Akkala region but keep getting murdered by giant lizard skeletons, so it's pretty slow-going
Why can I bond with dogs but not PET THEM #botw
Abandoned volcano area because it was super boring and fire lizards kept killing me. Went south and ran into a beach town, then managed to activate 2 towers and have massively expanded my map! Yay! #botw
I'm doing my very best to not look at walkthroughs or guides unless I'm REALLY stuck on a shrine or specific plot quest thing, as I think it's more fun to wander around and explore. It DOES mean that I'm currently 40+ hours into playing and still only have one divine beast tho #botw
Went back over to volcano area; accidentally skipped over a bunch of exploration side quest things and made it to rock eater town pretty easily. Then got halfway thru the fire lizard beast quest before deciding to take a break and get upgraded armor instead! #botw
Sucked it up and finished the divine fire lizard quest and actually it was EASIER than the water elephant quest because I just kept shooting ice arrows at Gabon until he died and it took like 5 min #botw
Stumbled across the Big Sword almost completely by accident ("almost" because NPCs kept telling me it was in a forest, and then I found the Lost Forest and thought that seemed suitable so I went into it) but don't have enough hearts to survive getting it, so now I'm trying to find more shrines & farm spirit orbs #BOTW
@tozka your cleaning prowess will now be unstoppable ๐
@tozka I hope after you defeated the moblin you were like โClean-up in aisle fiveโ
@MK if I meet a goblin in the woods and he has a mop and I have a sword, I just feel like I SHOULD WIN the fight!!
@tozka friendly neighborhood you've got there
@ljwrites I mean honestly he was very polite in waiting until I made it all the way to the top of the tree ๐ป
@tozka such impeccable timing ๐
@tozka the lynel are the worst lol
Theyโre one of the few things left where Iโll get a side-quest to kill one and just be like โwhelp! Nothing i can do, sorry yโallโ
@tozka Them damn lynel man, hahaha. I lost my fear of the guardians long ago but I still vigorously nope out of there when a lynel looms on the horizon.
@tozka All the non-boss baddies come back, I believe, plus your harvestables and tools. The blood moon basically acts as a memory dump so that the game doesn't get clogged up trying to remember what all you've messed with. I heartell that's why it can sometimes hit prematurely, if it needs a dump right away.
@ToonLink ah, okay! That makes sense
@tozka
If the skeletons give you a hard time try to travel only at day by resting til morning at a campfire when the night comes. With a flint and a bundle of wood you can create an instant campfire.
Also the Yiga clan members are disguised as civillian travellers all over Hyrule. They are sadly rather persistent.
@tozka one of the most disappointing things about the game
@quinnhempstead @tozka you can feed the dogs even! But no petting
A true travesty haha
@Satsuma @quinnhempstead I accidentally tried to tame a deer today and now all I want is a tame deer friend :( :( :(
@tozka
Too bad, only healthy horses (no skeletons) can be registered at #botw stables. Wildlife can be tamed and ridden. But it usually just runs away after unmounting.
Befriending a dog actually has only one ingame mechanic: the dog shows you the way to a treasure chest that would otherwise be hidden.
Friend with benefits?
@Satsuma
@tozka Gosh I love those monster hats for all sorts of reasons.
One: Makes going through monster-infested places much smoother when you don't want to get stopped every five minutes.
Two: Watching the Blins do their things because they think you're a buddy, oh GOD please can Link make friends with them just once? That would be so cool.
@ToonLink re: friends with monsters: have you already seen this??? https://youtu.be/Wsi1IbjPAkM
@tozka OH MY GOSH NO, I HAVEN'T
THANK YOU
...I'm already tickled by the David Attenborough voice, this is gonna be good.
EDIT: That was such a delight, oh my gosh. Thank you for sharing that.
@tozka "Dude! Hey, dude! That's our stash, man, you wanna share? Wait, dude? DUDE??"
@tozka if youโre just a couple hearts short, theres four fairly easy shrines within the lost forest alone (also useful bc then you can teleport back in later and skip the creepy fog lol)
@tozka i also refuse to talk to the creepy statue haha
@tozka i usually do tabanatha bridge (5:00ish am) for dinraal
Me: hunting for mushrooms in the woods at midnight
Skeleton goblins: ๐ ๐ ๐
