The new Pokemon game wants me to catch 25 Bidoofs and I just think that's too many doofs for any one person to acquire
*** make that read 37 books, I misread my spreadsheet
Also DNF'd two books including Amberlough! which was disappointing because I really wanted to read it! But I just can't get interested in spy stories, even if they're fantasy-adjacent ones
The hated books from earlier that issue. MC falls in "love" with the other MC because of his smell/fated mate thing (they're werewolves) but doesn't bother actually getting to KNOW HIM. Then he bites him & turns him into a werewolf against his will!
He does not apologize for this!!!!!
And then the sequel just continues the same problem: the second MC DESPISES the first, they never actually talk or even spend any time together, and yet at the end they're happily in love???
Even if they start off fighting (and/or disliking each other), she always gives them an opening to finding a way to love that doesn't necessarily negate any problems they had before-- they just have to talk it out in the last 3rd of the book and find a resolution.
I made it sound boring, but it's not. It's much more enjoyable than reading romances where the MCs just fall in love without even getting to know each other or having any kind of meaningful connection. 😔
Book reading for the last few days has been horrible. Started and didn't finish three books, including one which I had really high hopes for. Forced myself to read and finish two books that I ended up hating, to the point where I don't want to read anything else by that author.
Then read a KJ Charles book (The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting) and it was AMAZING, so enjoyable & charming. I love how she writes complex romantic characters & actually lets them talk & enjoy each other's company
The 1983 Pirates of Penzance movie is on YouTube. Kevin Kline and Angela Lansbury 💯
I've lost a tooth, please send me queer SFF book recs: https://tozka.dreamwidth.org/111676.html
dental woes: extraction (cw medical stuff)
I guess the positive side is I didn’t have to pay for a crown after all, and the extraction was covered by my insurance.

Went back to the dentist to finish the root canal and my tooth had fractured to below the gum line! So they had to pull it. Did NOT like that sensation but it was over faster than the root canal treatment, at least. Now I have to baby the socket until it heals up.
Anyway, the series is Amy Rae Durreson's Reawakening series, recently-ish re-released after getting out from Dreamspinner.

(Note the 2nd book involves the black plague, which read a lot differently after having lived in COVID times.)
The Jinjurly Audiofic Archive restoration project needs your old podfic files:
Game also wouldn't load at first because it needed to be installed on the main memory thing instead of an SD card, and NOWHERE is that mentioned in official documentation. Finally found a Reddit post from 2017 explaining the problem.
Am maybe about halfway through THE FINAL STATION, a post-apocalyptic survival game where you're a train conductor! Shoot zombies, take passengers to safe towns, black out occasionally because of aliens(??) etc.
It's pretty good, but frustrating because I'm having a hard time balancing keeping the passengers alive vs. eavesdropping on their conversations and I feel like I missed out on a lot of backstory.
whoa, this rant making a case for eliminating library fines got *righteous* (tumblr link): https://cooltastrophe.tumblr.com/post/673989135497854976/ok-i-reblogged-this-with-a-long-talk-in-tags
