Woke up to find my husband's car stolen. No broken glass, and everything was locked, so we suspect it was stolen on a tow truck or flatbed. The car itself is somewhat rare (Civic Type R) and was probably stripped for parts, versus someone taking it for a joyride.
We don't have surveillance cameras.
We've filed police reports and an insurance claim. We're doubtful the car is ever going to turn up again.
For the immediate future, we can only just get a rental so we can get to work. Maybe replace the car with a beater, until we get a place with a garage in the future.
I really haven't been in the mood to accomplish much today. Not looking forward to everything we're going to have to do tomorrow in terms of getting a rental, continuing to deal with insurance, and looking into replacing the car. Even if it was found and returned (intact), it wouldn't feel safe here.
Lesson learned. If you acquire something as neat as a Type R which isn't a luxury car, treat it like a luxury car. Keep it in a garage. Otherwise, it'll catch the attention of professional thieves.
